Gerald Needle takes you along on his adventures through the Amazon River basin. He explores the high-elevation ancient Inca capital, Cusco. He then travels down to the Madre de Dios River from a point where it is first navigable all the way through the Manu National Park. His second journey, inspired by the first, is an arduous trip from Cusco all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The author and his companions begin with a dirt road over the Andes, later navigating on rivers through Peru, Bolivia and Brasil to the Atlantic Ocean. The return to Peru is again as it began, by railroad and highway. The author is an experienced traveler on the South American continent taking place over many years.
