"Manie-Manie: The Labyrinth Tales" (迷宮物語) is an omnibus anime film released in 1987. It was produced between 1984 and 1985, but was shelved for a time due to its niche content. It was first screened publicly at the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival on September 25, 1987, released on video on October 10, 1987, and released in general theaters on April 15, 1989.
It consists of three segments: "Labyrinth Labyrinthos" directed by Rintaro, "The Running Man" directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and "Construction Cancellation Order" directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. This film was Katsuhiro Otomo's debut as an anime director. The title logo has the French "Manie-Manie" added in front. The English title is "Neo Tokyo," which is the name of the city in Katsuhiro Otomo's 1988 film "AKIRA," but it is unrelated to the content.
