Ramanujan was a remarkable Mathematician from India. He had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, but he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. In 1913 he began a postal partnership with the English mathematician G. H. Hardy at the University of Cambridge. Hardy recognized Ramanujan's work as being of “exceptional originality”, and arranged for him to travel to Cambridge in April 1914 where he was to become one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal Fellows of Trinity College, Cambridge in the autumn of the same year. This is a review of Ramanujan's first paper on Bernoulli Numbers published in 1911 and includes derivations of his formulae from first principles.
